A Simple System With A Simple Explanation.

Most Communications systems require an AC or DC power source. David Clark Company's Voice Powered System only requires Your Voice to generate the power needed.
David Clark Company's Voice Powered Communication System is a more sophisticated mechanical version of two tin cans connected by a string. When you speak, your voice travels to a transmitter causing fluctuations in a magnetic circuit. This creates a small amount of current(approximately 20 micro amperes), which is enough to operate the receivers on up to six headsets.
In its simplest application, a Voice Powered System can be just two Headsets and a jumper cord.
1.  Two - Man System 
The jumper cord, when used between any two David Clark Company Voice Powered Headsets, makes a complete communication System. Extension cords may be added to increase length.

 

Two Man System. The simplest system requires only 2 headsets and a jumper cord. Extension cords can be added to increase distance. No external power or batteries necessary.
2.  Multiple Station Installation
Any number of jack plates may be wired together with two-conductor, unshielded cable for fixed multiple station installations. Headsets or extension cords are then plugged into jack plates to complete system. An infinite number of jacks may be installed in a system. However, a maximum of six headsets should be plugged in at any one time.

 

For fixed installations with multiple stations use M5002 jack plates. The M5002 jack plate has two connectors with weather resistant covers. It can be panel mounted or fit into a standard utility box.
3.  Multiple Headset Installation

 

For portable applications up to six people, use a junction box.
When proper conditions exist, two-way communications is possible for miles. Voice Powered Communication is a simple, low-cost, maintenance-free system that is ideal for two to six people in moderate noise environments.
